Gatsby Dahlia by Priti NYC
I am going to start out by saying that I am sorry for not getting to the nail art contest yet. I was away from home for 6 weeks and am trying to get caught up on everything. There will be a winner by the end of the week, since all the judges need to let me know their choices. Unfortunately I don't know where the original prizes went so I will be picking up some new ones. I think everyone will be happy with them.
Now on to this orange polish, and it is orange!
I hadn't ever had a Priti NYC polish until recently. I was able to get a $50 gift code for $20 so I was able to pick up 4 polishes.
Since I didn't know much about these polishes I thought I would tell you a little about them in case you don't know about them either.
This is what they say about themselves on their website. Priti NYC polishes are all completely non-toxic and made without toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DHB) and formaldehyde- all known carcinogenic ingredients. The luxury polishes are fast drying, chip resistant, contain a UV inhibitor, and are extremely durable and glossy. They are also completely safe for use on children and moms-to-be. Available in over 100 different shades including metallics, mattes, bright neons, rich darks, classic nudes, and everything in between, limited color selection due to ecological restraints has officially become a thing of the past.
This is a neon orange jelly. I did not layer it over white and it is still this bright. It took 3 coats for this coverage and you can still see the nail line. However it is so bright I don't know if it is all that noticeable. This actually dries matte. I topped it with a coat of Seche Vite.
It went on really smoothly and I had no issues with it. Gatsby Dahlia dried quickly between coats. I can't wait to try the other polishes I got from this brand.

Nail Mail
I haven't done a nail mail post in a long time, although I have received a lot of mail. Sadly most of it has already been incorporated into my stash so we aren't going to see those. I am just going to show you what I got today.
I ordered these from Priti NYC. They are Gatsby Dahlia (holy moly this is orange!) King Spider Orchid, Horned Poppy, and Peporomia Pixie. I had to get that last one just because it had Pixie in the name. :)

Then I also received this from a friend.
It is Coraline from the Birchbox blogger set. I didn't want the whole set, just this one. It is my favorite color and shares a name with one of my favorite movies. Luckily my friend wanted the other colors and not this one so I was able to get it from her. She also sent me a cotton candy flavored sucker..I love cotton candy! and a nail file that has stripes on one side and flowers on the other. I love stripes so this is right up my alley. :)
I have a couple more packages coming in the next week so I'll probably have more nail mail to show you.
Have you received any good nail mail lately?
Getting Lippy with butter London
I am going to start off by saying I had the worst time trying to get an accurate color on these pictures. I have no idea why. I tried in the sunlight, in the shade but outside, inside, in the bathroom, with the flash, without the flash, and nothing seemed to work well. :(
So I am going to do my best to show you Primrose Hill Picnic (the one I had the issue with getting the color right) and Trout Pout.
Primrose Hill Picnic is described on the butter London website as A happy, punchy, tropical, fuschia pink lacquer. Will make you want to take off your shoes and run barefoot through the office. I would definitely agree with their description of the color. They nailed it (haha!) It is actually brighter in real life than it shows on my computer too.
Trout Pout is An opaque shade of cantaloupe, a pale and retro lacquer. I wouldn't call this a pale color. I would agree with the cantaloupe part but it is a bright cantaloupe, not a pale one.
The first picture is the closet I could get to the actual Primrose Hill Picnic color. The real color is much brighter. I would suggest going to the the butter London website and looking there. I hate to send you somewhere else for the color since that is what I am supposed to be doing here but I just couldn't get it right.
I used 3 coats on both of these colors. I probably could have gotten away with two on Trout Pout but Primrose Hill Picnic really needed three so you didn't have a visible nail line. They both went on smoothly.

I also got matching Lippys. This is what butter London says about their Lippys: Introducing LIPPY by butter LONDON. LIPPY is a range of long-wearing, lacquer-like lip glosses in shades to match our famous nail lacquers. Like the butter LONDON nail lacquers, LIPPY colours are rich and heavily pigmented for a look that is deliberate, high fashion, and luxe. LIPPY does not contain parabens, petroleum, phthalates, sulphates, or bismuth. If you’re being LIPPY, look the part.
As you can see they did an excellent job matching the colors! I'm not a big makeup wearer but I was hoping since their nail polish is so awesome I would love the Lippys also. Sadly, I did not. When I wear lipstick it is usually the kind that is the non transfer, so slightly dry. These are nothing like that. They were thick and sticky. I wiped them off with a damp towel but even that wasn't enough to get all of it off. If you like lip glosses than you would probably like these, but if you are more a lipstick person these will probably be a bit too goopy.
You can get butter London nail lacquer and Lippys at their website. The polish runs $14.00 each and the Lippys are $17.00 each.
Oh, I almost forgot to add that butter London polishes are 3 free!

Surprise polish for sale
My stash has gotten out of hand and I need to thin it down a little. I got this idea from Jenn and thought I'd see how it goes. I was thinking for $25.50 shipped, US only for that price. If you are international the price would be $37.00. I would send you at least 10 polishes (probably a few more), a mix of my swap list (that I don't have posted here yet. lol!) and from my collection. I can't guarantee colors but if you tell me what you like and what you despise I can try and accommodate it. Would anyone be interested? If you are you can email me at shally@polishedpixie.com and I'll send you the paypal address. :)

Elphaba by Lacquer Convetion
I was lucky enough to be able to purchase some polishes from Lacquer Convention when she was selling a few on her blog The Broad Stroke. I was able to get Pop Tart, Observatory, and the one I'm showing you today, Elphaba.
Elphaba is a character in the musical Wicked. As much as I want to I have never been able to see it. It always comes to town at a bad time. :( However I couldn't pass up on this gorgeous polish.
It is a black jelly base with small green and gold glitter, and larger gold hexagon glitter.
It took me two coats to get a nice coverage. Unfortunately I had to put on a third coat because my Seche Vite shrunk it a little. :(

Isn't it great? My husband called it intense. This is such a great alternative to plain black polish. Plus, how cute are the labels on these?
Normally Lacquer Convention is sold on Etsy. Right now she only has 2 polishes for sale. She was one of the indie companies that was affected by the suspension base shortage. Hopefully she can get more soon and start making more wonderful polish. I am really looking forward to it!

Sunny Day = Del Sol
Today was a gorgeous day in the Pacific Northwest so I figured there was no better time to pull out my Del Sol color changing polish.
The two that I used were Rock Star and Island Fever. Rock Star is a blue glitter that is supposed to change to a greenish blue. Island Fever looks green in the bottle and is supposed to turn into a blueish green.
I had to use four coats of each color to get the coverage that I got. Let's look at what the colors look like inside.

As you can see Island Fever doesn't look green. It is more of a yellowish color. It is pretty but not what I expected at all. I had serious concerns about it turning into the color that it claims on the bottle.
Here is what they look like outside.
Rock Star did pretty much what I expected. It turned a pretty greenish blue color. However you will notice that Island Fever is no where near blue, or even green. It turned a neat silvery color but it nothing like what the bottle shows. It is really pretty and I plan on using it on my toes because I think it will make a great pedicure color.
I hope that the suns stays around for a few more days because these are a lot of fun, even if they aren't what they show on the bottle.

Vinyl Remix by Pure Ice
I know a lot of you are tired and over crackles, but these ones are a little different and lots of fun.
These are by Pure Ice. When you buy them you get a Platinum Magic Base Coat, Vinyl Remix, and a little nail file shaped like a record.
The file isn't spectacular but would probably work as an emergency file.

Now you may be wondering what the deal is with these sets. The directions are fairly simple:
So you apply the white Magic Base Coat and then put the other over it. This is the part that Iven and I thought was really cool. You apply the Vinyl Remix (which is black) to the white base coat and this happens:
What?! Where did the color come from? I have no idea but there it is. There are 4 different colors that you can purchase. DJ Spinner is green (index finger) Vintage Remix is purple (middle finger) Rave is orange (ring finger) and Emcee Me is yellow (pinky finger).
As you can see I did some fun things with the brush while applying them, different directions, swirls, etc. Plus on my thumb I used all the colors.
The pictures above were all taken inside. The one below I took on my walk to the store, in the few seconds the sun was actually out.
I'm not sure what is so magical about the base coat. It seems to just be a white polish, but it is actually really nice for white. I usually have a really hard time with white but this one was pretty easy to use and went on fairly well.
These were a lot of fun to play with and Iven loved watching the color show up. To be honest I did too. It is pretty cool that it seems to come out of thin air. So yes, they are crackles, but they offer a little extra fun.
You should be able to find these anywhere that you can by Pure Ice polishes.

I'm back!
I've never been so excited to sleep in my own bed. 6 weeks away is way too long! I have a lot of reading to catch up on and a lot of posts that need to be written. I can't wait to get started posting again. :)
